A surgical procedure for the management of an umbilical hernia was successfully performed in a one-year-old female calf at the Livestock Farm Complex, Shourabh College of Veterinary Science, Kheda, Hindaun City.
The surgical procedure was performed by Dr. Rakesh Meena as the primary surgeon, with the assistance of Dr. Manoj Mathur, Dr. Sunil Meena, Dr. Akshay Gurde, Dr. Prapti Patel and Dr. Tanmay Kathale. Interns - Shivam, Sonu, Sudhir, Suraj, Suraj Dagur, Vikas, Vaibhav, Varun, Yuvraj, Yashvendra, Tarun, Virendra and fourth-year veterinary students were also present during the procedure for clinical observation and academic learning.
The animal was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia and was surgically managed by herniorrhaphy under local anaesthesia. Following proper surgical preparation and aseptic precautions, the hernial sac was approached, and the hernial ring was identified and closed appropriately. The animal was subsequently provided with supportive postoperative treatment and kept under observation for recovery and proper wound healing.
An adult cattle became unable to stand after a fall and remained recumbent for 8-12 hours. Treatment included epidural nervine therapy, Intalyte fluid therapy, subcutaneous calcium borogluconate, continuous limb massage, and physical stimulation to support neuromuscular recovery and circulation.
After 2–3 hours of repeated attempts, the animal was carefully lifted using a pulley system and supported in a standing position, with continuous massage.
The animal showed little improvement, taking weight on all four limbs and showing stepping movements with the forelimbs.

Clinical management of a 1.5-year-old HF cattle calf presented with inability to stand following accidental vehicular trauma. The animal was alert with normal appetite, but neurological examination revealed absence of pain sensation from the lumbar–sacral region and both hind limbs.
Management included infrared therapy to the affected lumbosacral and hind-limb regions to provide gentle therapeutic heat, promote local blood circulation and support muscle relaxation, along with therapeutic heat, massage, physiotherapy, and supportive care. Regular neurological reassessment was performed to monitor recovery.
